Drag Race Philippines S02E05 Recap: ‘Sireyna the Rusical’

M1ss Jade So and Matilduh face off in a lipsync battle as they fight for a place in Drag Race Philippines. Guest judge Anne Curtis watches with other judges as the queens show their emotions through a ballad lip sync battle.

Eventually, Matilduh goes home after losing to the tune of “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” by Asia’s Phoenix, Morisette Amon. She still holds the mini-challenge assassin, winning three mini-challenges in a row.

Drag Race Philippines: 'Sireyna the Rusical'

For this week’s maxi challenge, the queens were put to the test in a musical, portraying the Little Mermaid. Being the mini challenge winner for the week, Captivating Katkat gets to choose the role first. She eventually chooses the lead role, making her the center.

M1ss Jade So and Matilduh chose a small part, playing Prince Erica and Catriona respectively. Hana Beshie and Arizona Brandy play Queen Tritona and Pia. Lastly, OV Cunt as Labastian, Bernie as Tampalpuke, and Dee Dee Marie Holiday as Tiya Pusit.

Category is 'The Shoes'

The queens strut the main stage in custom footwear, designed to have a complimentary outfit. M1ss Jade So comes out as the Powerpuff Girls villain, Him. Meanwhile, Bernie brings out her forest goddess look paired with floral heels.

Arizona Brandy pokes fun at Cinderella going to a “ball.” She wears a string-tied pair of heels with a powder blue gown, topped with a sports headband. On the other hand, Dee Dee Marie Holiday channels her inner Donna Summer with a disco ball shoe.

Meanwhile, Matilduh plays on her floral side and designs a flower-studded boot and dress. But OV Cunt stole the show while expressing a different shade in her drag aesthetic—Brown. Lastly, camp queens Hana Beshie and Captivating Katkat take inspiration from Pinoy culture.

Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw

Despite being an experienced drag queen, Matilduh fails to secure the last spot as M1ss Jade So pulled some tricks on the final lipsync battle. With a bit of red-colored dye, M1ss Jade So secures the lead and sends Matilduh home.

Matilduh packs her bags, reads the note from the other queens, and writes a note on Captivating Katkat’s standee. Eventually, she also comes out of the closet and admits to her parents that she does drag for a living before heading home.
